INTRODUCTION
Few events have shaped modern galactic history more profoundly than the destruction of the Tiloians and the collapse of Serpia's membership within the Guraan.
The Serpian Civil War remains one of the most controversial events in recorded history. Entire populations vanished, political alliances fractured, and the balance of power within the Guraan changed forever.
This dossier provides an overview of the events that led to the conflict, the rise of competing ideologies on Serpia, and the consequences that continue to influence the galaxy today.
THE DIVISION OF SERPIA
For much of recorded history, the people of Serpia existed as a single civilization.
Among the founding members of the Guraan, the Serpians were renowned for scientific achievement, exploration, engineering, and technological innovation. Their discoveries helped shape modern galactic civilization, and many historians believe Serpian explorers reached numerous worlds long before formal colonization efforts began.
Approximately two centuries before the Civil War, philosophical divisions began to emerge within Serpian society.
While most Serpians continued to embrace scientific progress above their Quill religious upbringing, a growing movement centered on the continent of Tiloia. They argued that science alone could not explain every aspect of existence.
THE TILOIAN BELIEF
The Tiloians accepted science, technology, and reason.
However, they maintained that the Quill represented a force beyond conventional explanation.
To the Tiloians, the universe contained mysteries that could not be reduced solely to mathematics, computation, or physical law.
As Serpian society became increasingly secular, Tiloia evolved into the primary center of Quill worship on the planet. Over time, many remaining Quill believers migrated there, strengthening the cultural divide between the two populations.
The Tiloians developed particularly close relationships with the Belineans, whose interpretation of the Quill shared many similarities with their own.
THE RISE OF THE COMPUTATIONAL CONSENSUS
As advances in artificial intelligence accelerated, Serpian society increasingly entrusted major decisions to highly advanced computational systems.
These systems repeatedly analyzed economic, military, and political outcomes associated with Guraan membership.
Over decades of observation, a growing consensus emerged among both the machines and many Serpian leaders.
Their conclusion was simple:
The Guraan was inefficient.
According to the computational models, nearly every major galactic conflict could be traced to competing ideological, cultural, or religious beliefs.
Many Serpians concluded that long-term stability could only be achieved through rational governance, scientific principles, and the elimination of irrational influences, namely all religions including the Quill.
The Tiloians strongly disagreed.
THE GENS PROGRAM
As tensions continued to grow, Serpian researchers launched increasingly ambitious technological initiatives.
Among the most controversial was the Generational Soldier Program.
Known commonly as the Gens, these beings combined engineered biological bodies with programmable computational intelligence.
Supporters argued that the Gens represented the next stage of evolution.
Critics warned that the project reflected a dangerous belief that technology could replace fundamental aspects of mortal life.
The debate intensified existing divisions throughout Serpia.
THE BREAKING POINT
In 11108 VD (Veronan Date), Serpia's computational systems formally recommended withdrawal from the Guraan.
The Tiloians immediately objected.
They argued that membership in the Guraan represented more than political convenience. It was a commitment to cooperation among worlds, cultures, and faiths.
The proposal divided the Guraan Senate.
Some Veronans believed allowing departure would encourage future fragmentation across the galaxy.
Others questioned whether intervention would only worsen the situation.
The strongest opposition came from Belinean leaders Holden Hasarra and Quillisar Prill, who argued that abandoning the Tiloians would represent a betrayal of both the Quill and the principles upon which the Guraan had been founded.
Diplomatic negotiations were authorized.
They would arrive too late.
THE SERPIAN CIVIL WAR
Before negotiations could produce a resolution, open conflict erupted across Serpia in 11110 VD.
The war lasted only days.
The Serpians possessed overwhelming military superiority, supported by advanced technology and large numbers of Gens.
The Tiloians were rapidly overwhelmed.
By the time the conflict ended, nearly all known Tiloian population centers had been destroyed.
Verified information regarding the final days of the war remains extremely limited.
AFTERMATH
The destruction of the Tiloians shocked the galaxy.
Serpia was expelled from the Guraan.
Public outrage spread throughout multiple worlds.
The crisis severely damaged confidence in Veronan leadership and accelerated political movements already demanding change within the Guraan.
Later that same year, Holden Hasarra and Quillisar Prill led the political transition that became known as the Belinean Revolution.
Belinea replaced Verona as the dominant political force within the Guraan.
The consequences of that decision continue to shape the galaxy today.
